First time ever, the PASCO Summer Institute arrived to the New England area! We hope you will join us for this adventure on the picturesque campus of Salve Regina University in Newport, RI, right next to the historical building of the Breakers mansion . The accommodations will be in one of the most beautiful mansion, Wallace Hall. Spend a few days immersed into the early 1900 history or enjoy the visiting Tall Ships! We will not only offer a new beautiful location, but also some new approaches that will help you to get most out of your PASCO hardware. The recently renovated science wing of O'Hare Academic Center, right off the ocean by the Cliff Walk, provides the facilities for the workshops.

Join the growing camp of educators who couple probeware technology with the powerful pedagogical approach of guided inquiry, creating an interactive and stimulating teaching-learning environment and ultimately promoting scientific literacy. During this five-day workshop you will:
  • Develop activities in General Chemistry that engage students in self-directed inquiry, problem solving, decision making, and learning to think scientifically
  • Design investigations that facilitate the manipulation of variables in experiments and models, allowing students to predict, explore, and observe the effects of experimental parameters on variables in more complex experiments than could normally be replicated in the lab
  • Use the Xplorer GLX both alone and with DataStudio software
  • Utilize the power of DataStudio Workbook feature to create powerful electronic inquiry-based activities
  • Collaborate with fellow chemistry educators in the inviting settings at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island

Spend two days with us this summer and return to your classroom in the fall as a confident PASCO technology expert with the skills to implement lab activities using DataStudio software with PASPORT probeware to collect, display, and analyze data. Over the course of this two-day workshop a team of experienced educators facilitate hands-on skill-building exercises and subject-specific labs to help you:
  • Develop essential and advanced skills to take full advantage of DataStudio features
  • Optimize your use of popular sensors
  • Practice classroom-ready PASCO lab activities in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Middle School Science
  • Create new scientific investigations for your students or adapt your existing traditional labs to take advantage of probeware
  • Enjoy collaborating with fellow science educators
