DataStudio and Chemistry – The basics

And finally the big gun! Discover the potential of a computer-based student station in designing group-based lab activities. You will be immersed into a unique teaching-learning environment which you can harness for your own students. Learn what this unique configuration can do for you and get a hands-on experience with it!

Discovering guided inquiry with Chemistry activities

What you have been waiting for! After some initial discussion, get down to start to develop a guided inquiry activity with your teammates. You are welcome to bring a “cookbook” candidate activity with you or we can give you some ideas.

12:00 – 1:00 pm

Lunch

1:00 – 4:30 pm

Guided inquiry at work – Discussion on developed activities

Let’s see how it went! You will perform an activity developed by one of the other teams. Give a feedback to the developing team and hear the thoughts of others on your activity. Let’s have a discussion on challenges, potential problems and pitfalls (there is many!)

Putting it together and facing the challenges – What does it take to develop a guided inquiry based chemistry lab curriculum?

Let’s take a step back and see what and how you can use back in your classroom. We’ll address some common questions such as: When is more just more and not better? When is a technologically highly evolved environment appropriate and when it isn’t? What student audience is appropriate for guided inquiry? Do students think this way? If not, can be trained to think this way? If you have questions, concerns, bring them with you and share them with others!

12:00 – 1:00 pm

Final thoughts

Winding down. If you make it through, you deserve it!
